Contender

I started working on a project over the summer with a boxer named Silas Levy, a local up-and-coming heavyweight. The project kind of went to the back burner when things started to get real busy at the end of the summer (Gates-gate, Ted Kennedy’s death, etc.).

Silas recently won the Golden Gloves, the prestigious amateur boxing tournament and the starting point for a potential shot at the U.S. Olympic Team. Here’s a very loose edit of some time I spent with Silas at a fight and at one of his training sessions.

Congrats, Silas!

The Sweet Science

I recently started working on a personal project on boxing, which is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time. Thanks to my friend, O’Ryan Johnson, a badass reporter at the Boston Herald, I got the hookup with one of the local boxing clubs. I’ve got a little story going that’s very much a work in progress, but I’m quite excited to see where it goes.

I’m not quite ready to post anything from that story yet, but here’s a cool frame I got before OJ’s fight at the Nonantum Boxing Club in Newton.
