The Guitar-toting Yogini

Part of what I love about what I do is that I often get to hang out with talented people doing interesting things.

For that reason, I’ve been wanting to work with my good friend Erica Magro for awhile now. You see, Erica is a supremely talented musician, as well as being a wonderfully charming yoga instructor. Somehow, she manages to combine the two perfectly, and it’s truly an amazing experience when you get to hear her perform during a yoga class. She’s starting to build quite the following, so it was quite a delight to have the chance to show off her talents visually.

She will impress you, no doubt!

For more information, cruise on over to her website, ericamagro.com. And many thanks to South Boston Yoga for, in addition to being my main studio, being generous enough to let us use one of their studios for the shoot.

Spring Cleaning

Though it didn’t seem like it Saturday, according to the Tufts athletics calendar, spring is here!

With temps in the 30s and a chilly bite to the wind, the Tufts Jumbos women’s lacrosse team opened their season by hosting Hamilton at Bello Field in Medford. Both teams are nationally ranked, with No. 14 Tufts facing No. 7 Hamilton coming into the contest evenly matched. It played out as one would expect, with both teams battling. In the end, it came down to Tufts scoring 5 of the last 6 goals to come back from what was at one point a 6-3 deficit, to win 8-7. The game-winning goal was scored with 45 seconds left.

Even though I’m just now beginning to thaw out, it sure felt good to be shooting outdoor sports again. Here’s some pics from the game.

The Faithful Rally

I spent my Sunday night in church — The Charles Street AME Church in Roxbury to be exact. The black clergy of Boston were holding an “emergency rally,” as they were calling it, to show their support for Charles Street, which is fighting foreclosure hearings from its lender, OneUnited Bank. My colleague Rich Weir reports in more detail for the Boston Herald.

With the passion and volume of a Southern Baptist service, the religious and civic leaders on the pulpit preached to the standing-room audience with songs and sermons. That kind of combination usually makes for some good moments for photos.
