I spent this past Sunday at what will likely be my last baseball game of the season at Fenway, with my old beat the Tampa Bay Rays taking on the fast-fading Red Sox. With the Sox’ seemingly unbeatable Wild Card lead in jeopardy, the 4-game series over the weekend was particularly important going into the final week of the season. And as I’ve come to know the Rays over the past 5 years or so of my photojournalism career, it’s that the Rays know how to win when it matters.
And they sure proved it on Sunday, teeing off on Red Sox pitching and capitalizing on several miscues throughout the game.

There was a significant milestone during the game, though, as starting pitcher Tim Wakefield notched his 3000th inning in a Red Sox uniform. How about a little curtain call?
